Reiki Disciplines
Reiki is the most popular and widely used form of energy healing used today. Developed by a Japanese Monk & Educator named Mikao Usui (1865-1926) in the late 1800’s, it was a system that remained a secret until the 1980’s where, once introduced as a system of hands on healing, it spread very quickly throughout the world. Reiki is essentially a technique for harnessing the life force energy and focusing its power. Since this introduction in our modern times, many branches of Reiki have developed, all seeking to increase and focus the harnessing of the energy for betterment of man’s overall wellbeing.
At Healing Through Spirit, we pursue knowledge of Reiki rigorously, staying abreast and getting trained in the most effective new developments to ensure that our clients and students receive the optimal Reiki experience.
Today our Reiki Practice is focused on several key disciplines — traditional Usui Reiki and Karuna Reiki as taught by the International Center for Reiki. Our rigorous pursuit of Reiki knowledge, combined with our training and use of many other holistic healing disciplines, sets us apart from many instructors of Reiki in the marketplace. Our instructors stay abreast and are certified in new techniques, in order to ensure our students receive the highest quality training possible, as well as leveraging this knowledge in each healing session.

In our role as Teacher’s of this knowledge and wisdom, we believe it is essential that these teaching be made affordable to all, hence our pricing reflects this. We understand the importance of the class experience and the energy that builds during teaching. So our classes are designed as intensives, immersing each student fully for an optimal experience, yet, you will not find unnecessary class material in our program.
A little more on what Reiki is and what happens during a healing session?
"Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" to increase “life force energy" flow in the body. Why? Well if one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery." International Center for Reiki
An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class.
What is Karuna Reiki®?
"Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in Hinduism and Buddhism. It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others and could also be translated as "compassionate action." When individuals experience enlightenment, they report that all beings are known as one. Therefore, it is natural to extend compassionate action or Karuna to everyone without distinction because we are all one. Practitioners of Usui Reiki began channeling more symbols and attunement techniques that caused the energy levels to increase and led to the Karuna practice. It is believed that, as more and more Reiki energy is being used, the world’s energy level itself is increasing to the point that we are more open to the unlimited energy available to us. It is necessary for a healer to be attuned and practicing Usui Reiki before they can accept the heightened level of Karuna Reiki®." International Center for Reiki
Classes
The Reiki Intensive, is a weekend workshop where students learn Reiki I, II, Advanced Reiki Training (ART) and III (Master level) in one weekend. This program is offered every 2-3 months. For more information on the Reiki Intensive click here. The Karuna Reiki Intensive teaches Karuna and certifies Reiki Masters to teach Karuna. This program is a one day workshop offered monthly. Healing Sessions
All of our practioners are certified in Reiki, as well as many other healing disciplines. When you get a session from Healing Through Spirit you receive the benefit of this knowledge, experience and ability to channel the Divine Life Force Energy.
